Allan Chochinov: Design Lecture

Allan Chochinov, Editor in chief of Core77 and Chair of SVA’s MFA Products of Design department, discusses ways in which design can simultaneously serve as both the creative engine of new goods and services, and the custodian of our built environment. This lecture, part of the CMU School of Design Lecture Series, takes place on Tuesday April 2, 2013 at 5:00pm in Margaret Morrison building (MMCH), room A-14.
Allan Chochinov is the Chair and co-founder of the SVA MFA in Products of Design Program. He writes widely on design education and the impact of design on contemporary culture. Allan lectures around the world and at professional conferences including IDSA, AIGA, and IxDA. He is also a partner of Core77, a New York-based design network serving a global community of designers and design enthusiasts, where he serves as the editor-in-chief. Prior to Core77, Allan’s work in product design focused on the medical and diagnostic fields as well as on consumer products and workplace systems. Allan is associate professor at New York’s Pratt Institute, where he teaches two courses in the graduate I.D. department. He has been named on numerous design and utility patents and has received awards from I.D. Magazine, Communication Arts, The Art Directors Club, and The One Club. He also serves on the boards of The Designers Accord, Design Ignites Change, and DesigNYC.
